Goose FRIDAY
30 NOVEMBER 2007 ~ HIS WORSHIP & THE PIG We
are delighted to see the return of this folk/comedy duo (May 2004).
Once upon a time … just before Christmas, Dave Boulton came up with an
idea for a seasonal song about Santa, beginning with “Mary’s gone and left
me for the man from Toys ‘R’ Us”. Jeff
Parton added a memorable tune. More
followed … including the songs ‘The Alternative Scenario’ and ‘The Lone
Reindeer’. This will be a very
funny night. FRIDAY 28 JANUARY 2008 ~ DAVE WEBBER & ANNI FENTIMAN The enthusiasm of these stalwarts of the folk scene sparkles in their powerful vocal performances, which have developed from their involvement in traditional music for more than 30-years. Anni’s voice is clear and sweet, Dave’s is rich and powerful, and together they present a varied cross section of material. If you enjoy traditional music delivered with strength, clarity and simplicity, you won’t be disappointed. Dave Webber & Anni Fentiman FRIDAY 29 FEBRUARY 2008 ~ QUICKSILVER: HILARY SPENCER & GRANT BAYNHAM Hilary Spencer (That Voice in acapella meistersingers Artisan) and Grant Baynham (ex-'That's Life!' and comic songsmith to the stars) have been working together since 2002. One of their first gigs was at the Everyman, when both traditional and self-penned material was extremely well received. Both Hilary and Grant are well known for their on-stage repartee – moving, funny, relaxed and occasionally jaw-dropping. Quicksilver FRIDAY 28 MARCH 2008 ~ EMILY & HAZEL ASKEW The Askew Sisters are a young fiddle and melodeon duo, playing and singing traditional English music in a dynamic and exciting style. Their sheer energy and musicality is quickly leading them to become one of the up and coming stars of the new English music revival. Performing rhythmic, foot-stomping tunes, and powerful songs and ballads, their love for the music is infectious. Askew Sisters FRIDAY 25 APRIL 2008 ~ MAWKIN Four diverse and talented young musicians: Dave Delarre (guitar), Danny Crump (bass guitar), Alex Goldsmith (melodeon), and Jamie Delarre (fiddle), who play traditional music from the British Isles and the odd self-penned tune here and there. They meld traditional melodies and driving rhythms to present an extremely competent and exciting performance. Punchy, energetic, passionate music and good fun too! Mawkin FRIDAY 30 MAY 2008 ~ PETE MORTON Pete is a songwriter and performer from Nottingham, with a wealth of songs and stage presence, who sings from the heart. With a passionate, strong voice and strident guitar style, traditional songs rub shoulders with Pete's own writing with remarkable ease.
