Dear Everyman Member          1 August 2009

Future Guests

Please find enclosed details of Guests booked for the Everyman between September 2009 and May 2010.  As always, there is a mix of performers making their first visit to the Everyman as well as the return of artists who have been before.  We are very excited about Isambarde in February 2010, which involves some of the best young musicians on today’s UK folk scene.  Jim Causley makes a welcome return in May 2010, joined this time by Jackie Oates and James Dumbleton.

Tickets and Advance Payment

Until now we have kept our ticket prices unchanged since starting the Everyman in March 1996, which is a brilliant achievement.  Not surprisingly, the fees required by visiting Guests have increased significantly during the last few years (resulting from increases in petrol prices etc).  Accordingly, we have made the decision to increase ticket prices from September 2009, to ensure we can continue to invite top quality performers.  Tickets continue to be extremely good value, discounted to £5 for advance payment and otherwise £6 when paid for on the door.  Please find enclosed a couple of booking forms.  Additional forms are always available on Club evenings (and on the web site).

Membership

The Everyman continues to run as a Private Members Club at a venue with its own Public Entertainments Licence.   Membership is free, and only requires that each Member’s name and address details are recorded on our membership list.  (The membership list is not made available to any other parties).  Please remember to let us know of any changes to your contact details.

Education Programme

During the last few years we have arranged and sponsored some of our Guest Artists to visit local schools, latterly in conjunction with Suffolk Folk and the Big Music Nights.  The workshops and presentations undertaken provide specialist tuition in song, dance and related folk subjects to the children; the Everyman's aim being to promote traditional and modern folk music in Suffolk.  This year, we are taking a breather for a number of reasons; not only but including the increased costs involved and the amount of time required to make the necessary arrangements.

Web Site

If you have access to the internet, you might like to have a look at the new Everyman web site, going live early in August 2009.  This has details of all forthcoming guests, including links to their web sites.  As time permits, this will be added to so it includes more reviews of past events and visits to school.  We hope you like the new site.

Floor Singers

As always, we continue to be very fortunate indeed with the quality and quantity of Floor Singers available, and our Guests frequently remark on how much they have enjoyed the Floor Singers during their visit to the Everyman.  Even so, we are always seeking new performers so, if you would like to have a go, please do let us know.

We hope you are enjoying the Summer – and look forward to seeing you again in the Autumn.

Best wishes,
Mary
