The new season at the Everyman Folk Club began last night with an impeccable performance by Doug Eunson and Sarah Matthews Duo. These enthralling musicians performed an exquisite balance of traditional, contemporary, and self-penned songs and tunes – all with charm and humour. Their delectable voices were perfectly complemented by skillful and sensitive arrangements on melodeon, violin and viola. Gathering Round, written by Sarah, was the perfect encore – the evening certainly was “so joyous”.

We were also entertained with songs and monologues from our enjoyable floor performers - Dave Tricker, Pris Forrest, Steve Danby, The Glass Thistles, and Charlie Haylock. Thank you all very much.

Huge thanks also to our superb audience – for coming out in such atrocious weather, and for making the first event of this season so marvellous. It is always an honour to witness your fervent and exuberant chorus singing – you are outstanding. We send all good wishes to those unable to be there yesterday, and hope those with coughs and sneezes get well soon. See you next time – Friday 28 October 2022 – when Mick Ryan and Paul Downes making a long-awaited return to the club.
