Review - Mick Ryan & Paul Downes
28/10/22

Mick Ryan and Paul Downes were spellbinding at the Everyman Folk Club yesterday evening, delighting us with superb original and traditional songs interspersed with their distinct blend of charisma and quick-wit.  Mick’s beautiful voice was enhanced by gorgeous harmonies and entrancing accompaniments from Paul, and the attention to detail this duo gives to every song was always evident.  Thank you for performing The Lark Above the Downs; it was exceptional.  Love is Life was the perfect end to a perfect evening, and we will raise a glass to lovely Ken – he would have been delighted.

The evening was enriched by terrific songs – and a poem too – from Steve Atkinson, Deidre Lamont, Phil Lyons, Kieran Fitzgerald, Bill Johnston & Sheila Darling, and John Robinson.  Very well done all.

Bravo too to our amazing audience, whose passionate and incredible chorus singing is always remarkable – you are the best!  Special thanks to everyone who helped the evening run smoothly; your contributions are much appreciated.  We’ll see you again next time, Friday 25 November 2022, when our guest is talented musician and singer, Steve Turner.
