Review - Hilary Spencer
29/09/23

Dazzling singing from our terrific guest, Hilary Spencer, at the first Everyman Folk Club event of the new season on Friday. It is always a privilege to experience the power and versatility of Hilary’s sensationally rich voice. We were entertained with a selection of songs, mainly by Grant Baynham, Les Barker, and Brian Bedford; each introduced with respect combined with sparkling wit.

Terrific floor spots too from: Dave Tricker, Gillian Turner, Keith & Mary-Jane Tyrrell, and John Robinson. Thank you all. It was lovely to have Gillian back in Suffolk for a rare visit; we hope we’ll see you again.

Special thanks to Dave Wilkinson for stepping in at the last minute to MC the evening, and to Sheila Darling for all her help on the door – what stars you are!

Many thanks too to our cracking audience, for participating with such passion and spirit and, of course, for your support of the club. We missed Steve, Jacquie, and Bill – but the kindness with which folk rallied around to make the evening work is very much appreciated. See you next time – Friday 27 October 2023 – when we’re excited to have The Wilderness Yet as our guests.
